This Block Dock is made from aluminium and is powder-coated in hardwearing, long-lasting paint. Just give it a clean in the shower with your finger from time to time and you’re done. It doesn’t get easier than that. Better to keep it out of the dishwasher – anyway, that takes much longer!
It’s light as a feather so great for taking on the road, across the sea or up in the air. Including the suction cup, this Block Dock weighs less than 30 grams!

Why? Why would you put hemp in soap?!
Excellent question. Well, you need some form of oil or fat to make soap. This just happens to be a very beneficial one. Hemp seed oil is said to do the following:
- Possesses powerful anti-inflammatory and antioxidant properties
- Aids in the healing of skin conditions
- Deeply moisturises without making skin feel greasy
- Has a light consistency, and is said to be helpful for acne-prone skin
- Helps to soothe and calm irritated skin
- The fatty acid profile of hemp seed oil mimics that of our own skin, making it great for all skin types
- Finally, it’s a great conversation starter! You won’t find hemp soap in the supermarket…
What is the soap saver bag for?
This wee bag is the ultimate in zero waste bathroom products! It’s useful for a few reasons:
- Use this to store small bits of leftover soap. Save them up until the bag is full
- Once full, use this bag of soap offcuts as you would any bar of soap. Zero waste!
- Exfoliation. You can also simply put a whole bar of soap in this bag and use it in place of a face cloth or body sponge. It’s an excellent exfoliator
- Hang it up in between uses so it can dry out a bit

‘Kumiko’ macrocarpa soap dishes are beautiful
The Kumiko range of soap racks, are made in NZ by Modish and comprises two sizes. Its design is inspired by Japanese lattice work, called kumiko. Your soap is raised high with plenty of air to assist drying.
What are they made from?
The Kumiko soap dish is made from durable clear grade macrocarpa with no finishing oil. It is just plain naked timber – it has no staples or glue as the parts are pressed tightly together.

- Use it to keep a full bar of soap in. Simply place the bar in the bag, use it to wash your body, then hang it up to dry. It helps keep your soap from going mushy and allows it to dry out between uses.
- Soap scraps now have somewhere to go! If you’re like me, then you try to stick little pieces of soap to the next bar. Well this is a problem no more. Simply place all of your soap scraps in this bag, wait until it’s full, then voila! A new bag of soap to wash with.

Bars of soap are great!
Except when you have lots of tiny bits left at the end of the bar. They drive us all crazy right? So, if you’re like me (Ok past tense), you try and ‘glue’ them to the next bar of soap. I can see you nodding. However, now I have a better idea for you. What is this idea then?
A soap saver bag!
A bag? For soap? Yes! A handmade cotton bag to be specific. The bag is just big enough for one full bar of soap. Therefore, you can put an entire block of soap in there. Alternatively, put all your odd bits of soap in there. It doesn’t matter if they smell different. It’ll be like rainbow soap. It’s very easy to sell this idea to children too. They love playing with the bag in the shower or bath.

Soap scraps are not waste!
A byproduct of soaping is soap scraps. There’s a lot of offcuts and sometimes seconds (Due to the fact soaping doesn’t always go to plan! Therefore, I (Sharon) simply take these scraps and turn them into something useful.
What can I do with soap scraps?
Many things! Here in the Totally Balmy household we use them for all sorts of things. Here’s a few ideas based on what we do with ours:
- Save them up in the soap saver bag, then use this as a new (multi-coloured!) bar of soap
- Chop/grate them into small pieces to make liquid soap
- Once you have liquid soap you can make laundry powder, dishwashing powder, dishwashing liquid, or cleaning paste
