Beer & Honey Shampoo (For fine or damaged hair)

Beer & Honey Shampoo is here!

    Beer in shampoo? Absolutely!

Why is it beneficial to put beer in your hair?

    It’s said that beer:

    1. Tightens cuticles of the hair shaft, adding body and lustre
    2. Improves the quality/condition of your hair
    3. Adds lather to the final bar
    4. The proteins in the beer can help repair damaged hair
    5. The B vitamins in the beer add shine to your hair

And here you were thinking drinking beer was the best thing to do!

    What about the honey?

It’s said that honey also adds shine and improves the lather of the final bar. Therefore, it would seem beer and honey go hand in hand in this recipe.

What sort of hair is this shampoo good for?

    Beer & Oat Soap

    Beer Soap?!

Sure, you’ve heard of drinking beer. But isn’t beer soap a bit of a stretch?

Why? Why would you put beer in soap?!

Excellent question. Well, you need a liquid in the mix to make soap. Most soapers use water. However, you can use many things; water, milk, goats milk, wine, beer…the list goes on. Each ingredient has it’s own benefits. As for beer, it’s said that beer in soap does the following:

    • The hops in beer (once in soap) help to soothe irritated skin, and contain skin softening properties
    • It’s said to be very moisturising
    • Makes for a multi-purpose bar used for washing your body, hair, or even face (I love this bar for my face)
    • The brewers yeast used in the manufacturing of the beer has antibacterial properties, and may work to fight acne
    • Lastly, beer soap is surely a great conversation starter!

    Natural Hemp Soap

    Hemp Soap?!

I’m sure many people, on hearing the word ‘hemp’, think of wacky backy/marijuana…or any of the other colloquial names for the beautiful green leafed plant. Hemp seed oil does in fact come from the tall varieties of the cannabis plant. However, it does not contain the psychoactive compound called THC. Hemp seed oil and marijuana are two very different things!

Why? Why would you put hemp in soap?!

Excellent question. Well, you need some form of oil or fat to make soap. This just happens to be a very beneficial one. Hemp seed oil is said to do the following:

    • Possesses powerful anti-inflammatory and antioxidant properties
    • Aids in the healing of skin conditions
    • Deeply moisturises without making skin feel greasy
    • Has a light consistency, and is said to be helpful for acne-prone skin
    • Helps to soothe and calm irritated skin
    • The fatty acid profile of hemp seed oil mimics that of our own skin, making it great for all skin types

Natural Shampoo Bar (All hair types)

    Shampoo bars!

What’s that? Shampoo in a bar? It’s definitely a ‘thing’. And they’re super easy to use.

Would you like to be more environmentally friendly? Reduce the amount of chemicals you’re using on your body? Try something new? Well, our shampoo bars may be for you!

Made using only ingredients you can pronounce, these bars are gentle on your scalp. They clean your hair without detergent, sodium laurel sufate (SLS), or any other nasty chemicals.

You’ll notice these bars lather really well; as well as other shampoo, and without the potentially harmful chemicals you will find in commercial shampoos. You’ll still get lovely clean hair, though it may take a while to adjust. It takes between one and six weeks for your hair to stop ‘freaking out’ so to speak. Stick with it! It will adjust.

In the meantime, maybe try an acid rinse. Mix a tablespoon of apple cider vinegar with around 250mls of water. Once you’ve washed and rinsed your hair, tip this solution over you head, and leave for 1-2 minutes. Do this maybe twice a week for the first couple of weeks, then less as time goes on. This will prevent any build up of soap, and leave your hair shiny. This should also deter dandruff if this is an issue for you.

Shampoo bar ingredients: Olive oil, distilled water, coconut oil, mango butter, sodium hydroxide, castor oil, essential/fragrance oils.

    Lasts for approximately 35 washes

  • deodorant stick

    Probiotic Deodorant Stick

    What is in probiotic deodorant?

This probiotic deodorant uses coconut oil, baking soda (Or diatomaceous earth for the baking soda free version), probiotics, and tapioca as active ingredients.

We use so many chemicals on a daily basis. These can be found in makeup, sunscreen, perfume, moisturizers, cleansers, deodorant, and more. Perhaps it’s time to make a change to something a little more natural?

What is so wrong with commercial deodorant?

A common ingredient in deodorant is aluminium. The use of this harmful substance has been linked to breast cancer, and to an increased risk of Alzheimer’s.

This deodorant contains no aluminium, artificial colours, or parabens.

Your skin is your largest organ, and absorbs much of what we apply to it. Sweating is a natural process, and there are natural ways to help minimize it without the use of strong chemicals.

Using a more natural deodorant means you’ll still sweat. Eeewwww I hear you say! It isn’t that bad I swear! The odour created when you sweat is actually caused by the bacteria in your sweat. Using deodorant like this one helps destroy the bacteria, and therefore, the odour. It does this without blocking your pores.

Why should I be using probiotic deodorant?

    • It’s safer than commercial deodorant
    • No aluminium in this one!
    • Economical – lasts a long time
    • Easy to use, just roll it on
    • Lightly scented – no strong smell
    • Allows you to naturally perspire as it doesn’t block your pores
    • Eco-friendly tube – no plastic in sight
    • You know exactly what’s in it
    • This is an easy transition into less plastic in your bathroom

    Shaving Soap

    Natural Shaving Soap

So you have a good quality razor. Now all you need is a natural shaving bar to complete your shaving routine. This soap is safe to use on your face, body, and in your hair, so it’s a multi-purpose solid bar of goodness!

    What’s in it?

Our shaving bar has been formulated with patchouli, lavender, and cedarwood. Patchouli is said to be a natural antiseptic with the benefit of protecting wounds, and has been known to help in the treatment of some skin conditions such as eczema and dermatitis.

Cedarwood oil is often found in aftershave, perhaps due to the fact it’s known to have anti-inflammatory and anti-septic qualities. It’s also said to fight fungal infections, and help treat acne.

Finally, lavender is naturally anti-itch, anti-bacterial, anti-anxiety, and anti-fungal in nature. Therefore, the 3 essential oils in this recipe are a pretty fabulous combination for your skin.

This bar also contains neem oil as part of the base recipe.

    Neem oil?

Neem oil has been used for thousands of years for it’s medicinal properties. It’s widely used in the garden, as an insect repellent, in medicine, and in skin care. Neem oil is anti-microbial, and works by removing bacteria from the surface of the skin. Therefore, it helps in the treatment and prevention of acne as there’s no bacteria sitting on the skin’s surface. Neem is also said to prevent and treat scars, whilst reducing redness and inflammation.

Introducing the Head, Shoulders, Knees, & Nuts Bar

What is the Head, Shoulders, Knees, & Nuts Bar exactly? Well, sometimes we women like to have specialist bars for our face, body, hair etc. Whereas, I have been told (And my husband tells me this too) that men like to have just one bar. An all over soap, shaving, and shampoo bar. Mens soap for the whole body.

And now they can have one. With a twist.

What do you use this bar for?

Practically anything. For those who like to keep it simple, you can use this bar:

    • To wash your face
    • Use it as a shaving bar
    • In place of body wash
    • As a shampoo bar
