Plastic. It’s everywhere. Our oceans are drowning in it. And it’s that time of year again. The time when kids get insanely excited (As they should!), and you buy gifts for the entire family.
What do I buy?!
So, what to buy? The TV is full of adverts for amazing and exciting toys. Plastic toys. Sigh…If you’re like me, you feel overwhelmed and unsure about what to give your kids, your nieces and nephews, and well, everybody. I’m actually the practical gift-giver. Also books. I love books, so give them a lot. We’re a real book family, so I love it when the kids receive books as birthday presents. But, surely that’s not my only option right? Correct! I just happen to know of some pretty cool stuff you can buy this year. Better yet, all this cool stuff comes from NZ businesses! So here goes…
There are many ages and budgets catered for here, with these gifts starting at just $3 each. I would be delighted to receive some of these things! (She says as she eyes up the straws and lunch boxes…).
Christmas stockings don’t have to be filled with sugar or plastic. I think most kids would be excited to receive a bendy stainless steel straw or a toothbrush with their name on it!
Still haven’t seen something you like? What about these…
I know a pretty talented graphic designer/illustrator called Yhodie. He creates the most amazing images, and they’d make wonderful gifts. Or, if you know someone who loves doing puzzles, how about an old-school puzzle book? I bought some for my dad last year, and he loves them. Any child (or adult!) would enjoy a ready-to-make cookie jar, a swim bag (Which can even be personalised!), or some toys made out of natural resources.
Totally Balmy also has you covered!
Last, but not least, is some delicious natural skincare made by yours truly. You can choose from lip balm, lip gloss, fabulous soap bags (Made by my husband would you believe!), solid shampoo, and a range of specialty soap bars. Any of my products would be great in a Christmas stocking, and add something a bit different. (Keep an eye on my Facebook page for special Christmas editions!).
What are you waiting for?!
