So, here I am 5 days into my new diet. What has happened? How do I feel? Well, read on McDuff…
I’ve had no coffee, no chocolate, limited fruit (blueberries, raspberries, strawberries, kiwifruit, granny smith apples), lots of vegetables, meat, nuts, legumes, and eggs.
I’ve experienced worsening of all my symptoms, plus additional ‘die off’ (herxheimer reaction) symptoms. These include poor memory, extreme tiredness, all over body muscle aches, and headaches. However, I have been through this before, and what I’m experiencing now is rather mild compared to the first time. I believe this is due to my diet being much better than it used to be.
I’m not yet through the worst of it. I still want to eat and drink things I shouldn’t. However, I have strong motivation to feel well, and have strategies in place to make this work. I eat foods that keep me satiated, eat at regular times, and take a healthy snack if I know I’ll be away from home for a while (Like being in hospital with my little girl at 5am!).
I’ve resisted temptation many times this week, and for that I am proud. Both my father, and my little girl have been in hospital, so it has been a challenging week.
So there you have it. It’s tricky, but it’s working. I shall continue this mad experiment on my body and see where it takes me. Oh! And I’ve lost 1kg 🙂
