Welcome to my new blog. My name is Sharon, I’m a work-at-home mum, and I’m about to embark on a new journey, one that sees me finally overcoming my addiction to mochaccinos! In all seriousness, I’m on a mission to feel good. I’ve gained a lot of knowledge in the past 6 or so years in relation to the importance of eating well, lowering stress, and generally looking after myself. Knowing what to do is not the issue for me. Actually DOING it is. Thankfully I have a very supportive husband who doesn’t complain TOO much about me forcing him to eat healthy stuff. And I thought that if I put pen to paper, I’d have to commit. So here goes. This will be quite an honest encounter, and quite a personal one. Speaking of honesty, I’m currently binging on sugary crap (for want of a better term) this weekend before I start this seriously on Monday. Yes I know, when have you heard that before. And, if I can help someone, or at least keep you entertained, I’ll be happy.
Some basic info to get us started:
BMI: 21 (‘normal’ category)
Dress size: 10
Measurements – Bust: 93cms, Waist: 80cms, Hips: 91cms
My diet generally: Fruit, veges, meat, eggs, fish, nuts, wholegrain pasta, brown rice, home-made sourdough, water kefir, mochaccinos, cheese. Maybe 2 alcoholic drinks/month, no soft drink, no juice.
Why do I want to overhaul my diet in particular? Because, for as long as I can remember I’ve suffered from candida related issues. To name but a few things, PCOS, bad skin, mood swings, extreme fatigue, brain fog, excess mucus (having to bring up phlegm regularly), itchy scalp, ‘female’ related issues, heavy and painful periods, depression, toenail fungus….and many more. I told you this was an honest account.
On the face of it, my diet is pretty good. I don’t eat much in the way of processed food. I make most things from scratch because I like to eat well, and I have the time. I don’t think I’m better than anyone else. This is just how I choose to live. However, I’ve had niggly health issues for a long time, and I want to feel well. This is my motivation.
Welcome to my journey.
